Green From the basics of caring for house plants to learning about the unique tropical plants featured in the garden at the Neuropsychiatric Research Institute, to plans for a community botanic garden, conservatory, and arboretum, this course will make your white winter turn green! Feb. 2 - "Hands-on Trimming, Watering, and Propagation" by Larry Fischer Feb. 9 - "Bonsai Workshop" by Greg Baumgartner Feb. 16 - "Hardy & Woody Plants Introduced at NDSU" by Dale Herman Feb. 23 - Tour through the tropical NRI garden and learn about the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society from host Ron Ellingson Larry Fischer, an NDSU horticulture graduate, has been a research chemist for the Johnson Space Center and M.D. Anderson Cancer Institute, and owner of Fischer Greenhouses. Dale Herman is a professor of horticulture in the Department of Plant Sciences at NDSU. His major research project is entitled "Selection, Evaluation, and Introduction of Hardy Woody Plants for the Northern Plains." Dr. Herman has been directly involved with the introduction of 21 woody plants. Greg
Baumgartner has done bonsai and Japanese gardening since 1992. Ellingson,
a member of the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society, helps tend plantings
in the NRI atrium.
